| Don't you need a building to be a church? |

Actually we don't. No one does. There is much confusion today about what makes a church. Many people believe a church is a building. That's understandable because church buildings are referred to as churches. However, the Bible never uses the word church to describe a building.
The word church comes from the Greek word meaning to gather together. When the Bible use the term church it always refers to followers of Jesus Christ who unite to worship and serve God together. To help expand understanding of what the church is the Bible describes the church as the body of Christ, the family of God, and a spiritual household. None of these metaphors of the church require a building, because a church is made up of people, not bricks and mortar. That's what Bridges is, a church, people gathered together to worship and serve God. |
